July 8th

Yes, yes, I know.  More aesthetic changes to the site.  I wanted a cleaner look, and I think I achieved one at last.  This “news” look feels right for this publication, I think.  It works, in any case, and likely there will be more changes in the future as I open up the hood and peer inside.

On the intellectual side, much is new.  Conservemus once again took the web by storm with his foray into the proposed 55-mph speed limit.  Personally, I think the notion is laughable and tyrannical all at the same time.  I will likely only add to the coffers of local police departments if this is enacted, as I rarely ever drive without speeding…fortunately I’m biking everywhere these days thanks to the high cost of gas, and my desire to shed this “sympathy weight” I gained during my wife’s pregnancy and the subsequent first year of my daughter’s life…

Iran and Israel were topics of discussion the last couple of days.  Edward Beaman’s call to action against Iran was a stirring cry for international security:

Perhaps later this Summer, the skies over Iran will be filled with the wings of the glorious Israeli Air Force as they swoop and destroy nuclear power plants and military instillations across the nation.

I wrote a piece on the deplorable prisoner swap Israel is making with Hezbollah, freeing convicted child-murderer Sami Kuntar.  This exchange of live killers for dead bodies, even if those IDF dead are worth a thousand times more than the terrorists, still has me angry and shocked.

Julian Krasta is back with the new featured article “The Trojan Candidate” which lays out a very strong case for McCain over Obama.  Many conservatives are wary of McCain, but they should realize that he is a far better pick than Obama (though some writers here will disagree…).

And we published an article first seen at Pajamas Media, by Lee Smith, detailing the true dangers Iran poses for the West, and just how important oil is not just to America, but to the world.  Is Iran hood-winking its Arab neighbors, using Israel as its strawman?  Certainly it’s beginning to look that way….

Approaching July 4th

Plenty of news from the Editor’s Desk this week.

First off, and perhaps most notably, NeoConstant has an entirely new look and feel to it.  This due to some forays into CSS on my part.  I went in blind and came out with a much better sense of how it’s all done.  My website design is somewhat akin to the young boy who takes apart a radio to see how it works, and then rebuilds it into a different radio…or something like that.

Courtney Messerschmidt brought an entirely new sort of prose to the Journal, and helped us understand just how badly we shouldn’t read Fred Kaplan’s Daydream Deceivers.

Conservemus blew the top off of everything with his piece on Obama’s Presidential Seal, and drove hits to this site through the roof for a few days, as his story made it to forum after forum around the internet, including Free Republic and many others.

Donald Douglas of American Power Blog has signed on as a contributing writer, and you can read his first contribution on the front page.

This is only some of the recent happenings at the Journal.  Hopefully we will continue to gain momentum as we push forward.

Happy 4th of July in advance, and remember to keep the troops over in Afghanistan and Iraq in your thoughts and prayers.

Happenings and Goings-On

Well, just a brief summary of what’s new at NeoConstant.

Conservemus has been digging up the dirt on Obama over the past couple of weeks, and has brought to our attention a very interesting speech by the founder of the Weather Channel denouncing Al Gore’s global warming hysteria.

Ryan Christiano published his opus on the foreign policy legacy of George W. Bush; and Richard Cardigan reminded everyone why it’s so important to stay the course in Afghanistan.  Sometimes it’s easy to forget Afghanistan, blanketed as it is beneath Iraq’s shadow.

Ian Kristofer brought us up to speed on Obama’s payroll tax plan; Bill Harrison summed up his views on the loss of the Democratic nomination by Hillary Clinton; and yours truly announced the new so-called peace deal about to be struck between Hamas and Israel.

We’ve seen some new writers join up and start composing excellent pieces.  This next phase promises to see more new writers, hopefully some more feature interviews, and more.  The “Reviews” section has yet to truly take-off, and once things stabilize, that’s where we’ll head.

Beyond that we adopted a whole new look and feel; been indexed by Google News; and have stirred up some healthy debate with the isolationist paleoconservatives at Conservative Heritage Times.

It’s been a busy week as usual at NeoConstant.
